About Us
We are an all-age local church made up of people from a wide spectrum of life in Winchester and the surrounding area. We seek to teach, understand and follow the whole message of the Bible, showing us how to be reconnected with God, which is the most vital need for everyone in our modern world. Our desire to share this message goes beyond our locality and we have a heart for this nation and other nations beyond our own.
We are an enthusiastic church and our Sunday meetings have a contemporary feel, with modern music and an open participation to all, where we seek to allow the Holy Spirit to guide us. Bible teaching is always a key ingredient of our meetings together and we also provide children’s and youth programmes to run alongside those for adults.
The Middle Brook Centre Stanmore Lane
Our history as a church dates back to 1928 when a work amongst children in the Stanmore area of Winchester was established. Our first building was erected in 1932 (on the same Stanmore site which we still occupy) and served us until it was finally no longer big enough, the current Church Centre in Stanmore Lane replacing it in 1991. Continued growth meant that this building also became too small and in 1997 we moved our main meetings to our new city-centre site, The Middle Brook Centre. Our offices and some community-based events remain in Stanmore Lane.
Throughout these years of growth and development we have sought to model ourselves on the life and vitality of the early church recorded in the New Testament of the Bible. For more of our history, Reg Hall's recently updated book, 'Things Are Different Now' can be downloaded here.
